News

Hello everyone!

Colleen here...just wanted to share some info with everyone! First and foremost, a huge thanks to everyone for your support of Desert Dash races and group runs! Both Glenn and myself are humbled by your participation and enthusiasm for what we are doing.
  • German Shepherd Rescue Las Vegas needs help!

As you all may know, we try and help as much as we can with the German Shepherd Rescue LV and right now they need a lot of help!  A backyard breeder has left a lot of dogs in desperate need of homes.  Plus, with 48 animals now at the rescue, they need a lot of food as they are going through almost 60 bags of dog food a day.

We donate a portion of our race registration to the rescue but if anyone can help, please consider doing the following:

    * Bring some dog food or a Costco gift card to any of our events

    * If you can give a dog a forever home, check out adopting

    * If you have a home but can only foster a dog, please let the rescue know

Every little bit helps.  Head to their website for more details and thanks for helping us to support such a great group!

  • Room rates!

Great places to stay and eat!
Make sure to check out our local scene page if you are looking for somewhere to stay or eat while in Boulder City or Las Vegas area for our races.  We will be constantly updating this list but, we just recently got a 10% discount at Milo's Inn Boulder City.  If you talk to any of us, we will all tell you the same thing, it's the place we all want to "staycation"!

    Local scene info...

  • Race rules

We all know that we hate a million rules BUT we have a few race rules that will ensure you have a great time and that we don’t spend hours looking for your body because you forgot to tell us you were done J

    • If you decide part way through your race that you want to be done, you MUST notify the timekeeper.  If we don’t know you are done we will go looking for you until we find you!
    • Failure to sign-in at the mandatory checkpoints will result in immediate disqualification.  These checkpoints are for your safety and so we can keep track of where athletes are on the course.
    • If you miss the pre-race meeting you will not be allowed to race, no exceptions.  The pre-race meeting is moments before the start of the race, if you are running that late it may be a sign.
    • We will allow you to change to a different distance prior to the race (email us) and at race packet pick up.  BUT, please consider what your goals are when you sign up and be realistic about which event you want to do.  If you switch to a distance that costs less, there is no refund and no one will be allowed to switch to a longer distance than what they originally signed up for.
    • Bibs are assigned according to what distance you are doing, if you have switched your event you must get the appropriate bib.  When runners come across the finish line we are looking at your bib to see where to put your time.
    • Bibs must be visible, we can’t put your time into the computer if we can’t see your number.  Please make sure we get your time if you come in with a group as well.
    • You can walk the race if you would like, please let us know if you are planning on walking and start at the back of the group to allow the front runners to seed themselves.
    • GARBAGE will not be tolerated!  If you brought it with you and ate it, you can carry the wrapper out.  We work tirelessly to make sure our events are green events, we walk the entire race course both before and after the event.  So, if you leave something behind it is disrespectful to both us and the land managers that give us permission to use these places and the other users.  We provide reusable water bottles and gel flasks to avoid these issues so take advantage of what we provide.
    • We have not banned personal music players and headphones, but please consider your safety, especially during our night trail runs.
